Dictionary of the Political Textile
PANEL OF FABRIC AND BOOK 2014
Although we are constantly surrounded by textile we hardly know where it comes from, who made it, and who is earning money with it. Nevertheless using textile always means being part of a certain context. It has an anthropological, social, economical, ecological and psychological, context.
The work THE POLITICAL TEXTILE approaches this subject in two lines: a very physical tex- tile stroke which displays the surplus, and an appropriate dictionary concerning this issue by presenting a word and a picture together which can be used as hints for translation.
This work was part of the Studium Generale Festival VOICE ~ CREATURE OF TRANSI- TION initiated by the Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam.
