The video work explores the darker facets of motherhood, using the act of eating one's own child as a symbol to challenge the traditional notion of motherhood and its idealized image. The mother transcends her own boundaries, peering into her own psychological depths, where she catches a glimpse of the lurking monster within her. The piece offers a platform for deconstructing romanticized ideals of motherhood and for articulating its profound complexities.
The work was exhibited as part of the "Myths of Mothers and Other Monsters" exhibition at L6 Kunsthaus Freiburg. The exhibition evolved from a longstanding collaboration with the M.A.R.S. collective (Maternal Artistic Research Studio). It was conceptualized by M.A.R.S. and brought to fruition in collaboration with curators Hanna Weber and Sascia Bailer.
